Rhema Christian Center was birthed in the heart of Pastor James White out of a love for the Word of God and for Kingdom advancement. While praying and serving Supt. Derrick Hutchins at Family Worship Center COGIC faithfully, the mandate was made clear in 2002. After relocating to Columbia from Greenville in September of 2002 he began plans to establish RCC.
In April of 2003, Rhema held the first Sunday morning worship in the Auditorium of Columbia High School in the Broad River area of Columbia. Seven adults and five teenagers and six children attended Bible Study and Sunday Morning Worship faithfully for over seven months. These individuals became the first (charter) members of RCC.
After receiving further direction from the Lord, in November, 2003, Pastors White and the Rhema family moved to 554 Meeting Street in West Columbia. Though growth of the ministry was slow, it was steady.
In May of 2009, though faith and divine favor, RCC purchased our first facility at 2601 Seminole Rd in the Broad River area of Columbia. God has brought us full circle to the beginning. It is at this location that the church will, without a doubt experience God’s increase through the powerful message of hope, love and faith. For it is evident that God's hand is on our ministry.
We continue to see the plan of God unfold in our lives collectively and individually and are assured that God is going to allow the vision to speak and unfold. It is the commitment of those who serve at Rhema to pursue God’s vision for this ministry and their lives daily. The Lord has done and continues to do great things for us whereof we are glad.
For we are a supernatural church, composed of supernatural people, doing supernatural things, for We serve A Supernatural GOD!
